If you like your
holiday set to the soundtrack of the
sea, you’ll love this hotel. Pulled
right up against Cala Bona Beach,
the Levante looks out across the
blue waters of the Med. And that’s
not all on the location front –
shops and restaurants are within
easy walking distance, too.
In terms of the
hotel itself, it’s got a great pool
scene. Surrounded by a yawning sun
terrace dotted with sun beds and
parasols, it makes the most of those
stellar sea views. And glossy palm
trees complete the poolside picture.
Inside, the
Levante is bright and fresh and uses
pale-wood furnishings to good effect.
The bar has an almost cruise ship
feel while the buffet restaurant is
vision of crisp white table cloths.
It boasts floor-to-ceiling windows,
as well, so you can dine while
gazing out to sea. In terms of food,
there’s plenty to choose from –
everything from local dishes to home-from-home
favourites. Plus there are two
themed gala dinners every week.
As for the
bedrooms, they’re decorated in soft,
neutral tones and come with
satellite TVs, air-conditioning and
fridges or minibars. All of them
have balconies and, for a small
supplement, you can upgrade to a
sea-view room. On the facilities
front, the Levante is great for
pampering. There’s a Turkish bath
and a sauna, not to mention two
Swedish-style hot tubs. Sunk into a
wooden decking, these twin
whirlpools look out to sea. If you
want to shift things up a gear,
there’s also a gym and as a guest
here you can use the tennis courts
at sister hotel, the Levante Park.
Of course, the
Levante Hotel is part of the couples-only
Thomson Gold range, which means you
can expect plenty in the way of top
entertainment. In the evenings, sit
back and enjoy a mixture of live
music, cabaret and professional
shows. Put simply, if you’re looking
for a beachside hotel with plenty to
do, this place is hard to beat.

Resort
Information
Sun, sea and sand fans won’t have
any quibbles with this delightful,
traditional resort. Lying north of
Cala Millor on Majorca’s scenic
eastern shoreline, it’s smaller and
more subdued than its colourful
cousin. Unpack your bags, trail your
toes in the water caressing the
sands, and the laid-back atmosphere
will soon overtake you, slowing you
down and gradually spiriting your
cares away on the waves.
Around its picturesque harbour,
you’ll find narrow streets betraying
its past as a simple fishing village.
Wander around here before hitting
the modern centre, whose traffic-free
roads are flanked with bars and
restaurants offering Chinese,
Italian, fast food and authentic
local cuisine. And for a taste of
the sea, turn tail back to the
harbour, where merrily painted
fishing boats still land their
catches for the daily specials on
quayside menus. Pull up a chair at
an open-air restaurant, order a
caldeira de langosta and chilled
wine or two and let a couple of
hours pass by as you gaze out over
the harbour waters.
Days at the beaches are the star
attraction here though. A procession
of man-made coves and longer sandy
stretches parcelled up by long,
rocky promontories, they’re tailor-made
for carefree hours of tan-topping
and paddling with the kids.
When you’re ready, swap the sands
for sightseeing. The spectacular
stalactites and stalagmites of the
Drach Caves make an unforgettable
sight. Whisk the kids to Cala
Millor’s safari park or, if it’s a
Friday, pop into the bustling
outdoor market inland at San Servera.
And at sundown, if you fancy
exchanging Cala Bona’s sedate
nighttimes for something more
exciting, just hop in cab for Cala
Millor’s vibrant bars and clubs.
